Do you think about bullying when picking your child’s name?

There are certain names I like but I feel like kids can be so mean that it deters me 😭

I think more about them applying for a job in the corporate world. Name discrimination is a real thing.

I mean, don’t pick Gaylord or anything. But most names are probably fine. It wasn’t a consideration when we picked our kids’ names

Yes if it’s something obvious. For example I personally wouldn’t name my kid Chester because of all the Chester the mol*ster jokes, but something like Lana being anal backwards wouldn’t phase me. Idk it really just depends on the name.

I suggest naming your child for a professional job they might have in the future. Don't give them a name that could hold them back in anyway. 
All kids get teased by other children.

Yes. Kids can be ruthless and mean. And even though she would have no control over her name I'm not going to set her up to be bullied over her name or initials. Growing up it was cool to have those backpacks with your initials on them. I don't remember the girls initials but it spelled out whatever and she was picked on for ages. It's as really that parents have to think about that. I think people should pick the name they like for their babies but I also think it's important to not set them up with something that will get them made fun of by their peers

Unfortunately kids tease each other, I get wanting to protect them, but it will prob happen at some point and if it’s not their name it’ll be something else. So unless it’s something super obvious I wouldn’t think too hard about it.

Kids will be mean one way or another. If it's not a name they'll pick on, they'll find something else

Of course. Kids can be cruel. I also consider if the name will age well. I see so many name suggestions/polls on this app, but half of them I'm thinking that's a name for an animal or that's not going to age well.

As long as it's nothing like Anus or something obviously cruel, I wouldn't worry. They will eventually be picked on over something... Can't really control that... It an unfortunate part of childhood.
