24+ hour birth story!

My water broke at 3 am on the 15th and my baby was born on the 16th at 10:07 am. I wasn't having contractions at all before that though. I had gotten up to 28 mL of pitocin with little effect so they "flushed my receptors" and gave me a new bag and only needed 14 mL to process, when I was about 4 cm I tried fentanyl through the IV and slept for 30 minutes before the nurse said I needed to turn because the baby's heart rate was dropping from the cord getting kinked, I was then told the doctor may want to put a catheter in my uterus to put more fluid into it (didn't know that was a thing) and an epidural was decided on as I didn't want to have to feel that or the cervix check. Up until that point I was using a TENS unit but had to remove it for the epidural. My epidural dose had to be increased as well as I was feeling a lot of contractions in my back and sharp ones in my stomach. Slept for 3 hours after that and when I woke up they said I was ready to push and only pushed for 30 minutes on my side. For recovery I had horrible back pain and all over numbness and weakness in my body for about 3 days. I also tore in three places but it's not that bad just hard to sit. Originally wanted to avoid drugs and being hooked up to anything but ended up with about 7 different tubes (not counting the TENS unit cords) attached to me and the worst part was I could eat anything but jello, broth, ice, and Italian ice for the 24+ hours of labor. In summary though had a good experience and would say to go with the flow during labor if your birth plan changes 😅

But it was all worth it for this lil guy!
