How do I keep myself awake while nursing?

Im a first time mom and Lastnight was scary i fell asleep while nursing my baby and I have no idea if he ate or not bcuz when I woke up he was still hungry an hour later.
I already have the TV on and on my phone.
Any other tips on how I can stay awake?
I have been accidentally falling asleep while rocking him on my lap now too.

When you nurse you create a hormone that makes both you and baby sleepy. No advice on how to stay up tho lol I still struggle with it.

I still fall asleep, I make sure baby is propped up well and we just go for it. The smallest movements always wake me up. I fell asleep for 2 hours last night in the chair, my daughter was well snuggled into me

I bought wireless headphones and would turn on a podcast LOUD. Baby couldn’t hear a thing so he was able to go back to sleep after nursing without a struggle. I also would have my husband stay awake with me when babe was tiny and he’d do the diaper change, then make sure I didn’t fall asleep.

Set a FEW alarms (not just one since you may sleep thru it), 30 mins past feeding time, 45 mins... 1 hr...1 hr 30 mins later etc. Whatever you feel would be best.

If you have a partner can you ask them to wake with you while you get used to this? I know I was super tired at first but now I never fall asleep since my body is used to it. They might be tired but safer is better than the alternative.
