Would using an older version of the owlet matter?

I am having a baby in July and I have a friend who gave me their owlet generation 2 sock. I am so grateful! I am just curious as to if it matters that’s it’s not the newer generation? Do things like these expire like car seats?

Lol no, it’s just a monitor and sensor so as long as the technology still works properly it’s perfectly fine to use used and saves you a few hundred.

No, my gen 2 works just fine still.  The app updated and I don’t have all the new features but everything works the same as when I got it.  I beta tested the new bigger sock but that one stopped working 😭

i don’t think so, i have the newest owlet sock only because my baby’s dad got it when i was only 4 weeks out of excitement if not i would’ve probably gotten a cheaper generation or hand down. luckily we’ve been able to afford these baby things but i know not everyone wants to spend a lot on products like these so i think anything free is always good
