The Simpsons: the voice actors race SHOULD match the characters?

I saw that I guess they are changing the voice actors on the Simpsons to slowly have the voice actor be the same race as the character they voice. I mean does it really matter? Especially for such an old cartoon.

I think yes, in instances where international accents are used, its better to have a voice actor from that nationality to make it sound more authentic. Some accents are terrible 😂
Having voice actors matching the description of their characters can also be a step towards fixing the under representation of ethnic minorities in film/media.

I personally don’t care what color race someone is when they play a cartoon. Like Seriously.. It could be a purple alien playing Bart & I could give two shits lol

Inclusion in media is important. Why is a white person voicing a black or Indian or Asian character? Why not actually get someone of those ethnicities to voice those characters? 
To some people (mainly white people) “it doesn’t matter,” but to others it does. It’s about representation. I don’t see why people get upset about shows wanting to be more sensitive to people of color. If they truly “don’t care” then why are they wasting time worrying about whether or not the voice of Missy in Big Mouth got recast?

Nope, I recently found out the same voice actor plays 3 very different characters in very different genres. He is very talented and I enjoy his acting, he shouldn't be limited to just black characters and if he was he would end up losing most of his jobs.

In voice acting I would take preference in a minority playing a minority character in the show. However, voice-over is an art. Many of these voice actors can manipulate their voices to mimic different accents and unique tones. That is not easy. One of my favorite voice-over actress is Tara Strong. If you grew up in the 90s she voiced almost every cartoon character you can think of. She is now Raven in Teen Titans and I'm not sure if Fairly odd parents still is on tv. She is Timmy Turner too.

The Simpsons have been around for like 35 years. Im guessing at that time they didn't have an abundance of cultured voice actors🤷‍♀️I don't think they should fire the voice actors they have now to get the appropriate voice but I'm the future if they need a new voice then it wouldn't hurt.

Granted I’ve never really watched the Simpsons but how can they have accurate racial representation when they’re yellow? Are there other colors in the show?

I think its good because it's giving a job opportunity to those minorities who may otherwise be overlooked for better known white voice actors. Sounds right to me that an Indian person should voice an Indian character, a Chinese person voice a Chinese character etc.

Yes. I love the classic simpsons episodes. The first ten or so seasons are *almost* perfection. While progressive for the time, we can look back with a critical eye now, and say the voice casting was a problem in a few spots, and likely contributed to continued stereotyping of Indian Americans. 
We weren’t having these conversations in the 90’s. I get it, and can’t throw much shade at them for it  Today we are talking, and do know better. It took them far too long to acknowledge the issue, and I do judge their response. Moving forward, I hope they, and all cartoons think a little bit more about who and what they’re showcasing.
