schedule delivery ?

ok so my estimate due date is 03/21/2021. one of my OBGYN is trying to schedule me a delivery date. this my first time delivering & i was wondering is it normal to schedule a delivery date if i’m not having a csection & if so what’s the process of it?

Scheduling a delivery date would mean getting induced which is unnaturally starting your labor. It’s not normal and I wouldn’t do it unless it was absolutely necessary.

No and i wouldnt allow them to schedule an induction for your birth. Inductions have higher risk of emergency csections which lead you down an even deeper surgical road afterwards. I would advocate for yourself and say that you will not be accepting an induction and that you will be delivering when you go into spontaneous labor (which could go a week or two past your due date but thats another conversation)

Not normal unless you’re having health issues.  I wouldn’t want to be induced unless there’s a reason for it

I don’t know any OBs in my area that routinely schedule inductions weeks in advanced. All my friends that have been induced have gone in at 39-41 weeks and gotten it scheduled at that appointment. Definitely not 3-4 weeks early.

Never heard of! But she might be scheduling a post dates induction so maybe that’s what she did but ask your ob!

I have seen a lot of this now with Covid.
When I had my first in 2015 my doctor wanted to induce by a certain date (before my due date) because she didn't want me to go over the 12 week time frame that my Rhogam shot covered. I am an O- blood type and my husband is A+. And with our 4th they wanted to schedule me for a repeat c section the day before my due date because of 3rd was a c section and they didn't want to risk induction. That being said our 1st, 2nd and 4th all came on their own without induction.
