What happens if you have GD?

Question

I failed my first glucose test and doing my 3 hour soon. 
Any mamas had GD? What were the next steps after you found out you had them? Did you meet with a dietician? We’re you induced? 
I plan to talk to my OB but I’m so nervous I have it now!

I failed my 1 hour, mama.. but passed the 3 hour one :) I’ve read a lot of ladies had that happen too! Don’t overthink it & drive yourself crazy the way I did! 😘

I had it with my first but just found out I dont have it this time.
I live in Ontario Canada but when I had it I met with a nurse, dietitian and endocrinologist at the diabetes clinic then continued to see them every month. I had monthly ultrasounds in the third trimester and after about 30-32 weeks weekly non stress tests.
I had to check my blood sugar 4x a day and maintained good numbers with diet changes. If you cant you may be put on insulin. 
I was going to be induced between 39-40 weeks as they don’t let you got overdue but my labour started on its own at 38 weeks and I had a very uncomplicated, smooth and medicated vaginal delivery.

They have you monitor your blood sugars at home about 4x a day and keep a log. It's a finger prick test. If your sugars are ok, that's what matters. Some can keep it at normal levels with just diet changes, some need medication, some need insulin if you have a bad case. I was able to just modify my diet. They had me meet with a dietician. They also did more scans at the end to monitor baby's growth. But my biggest GD baby was only 7.5 pounds at 39.5 weeks.  They'll also check baby's glucose levels at the hospital, but mine were all fine
