Selling a house as is?

Have you ever sold a house as is? My best friend has a house she needs to sell but it needs SO much work! She is scared that if she sells as is then she will be underwater with the mortgage. So, if you ever sold a house as is- how did it work out for you? Was it a smooth process? Did they offer you a ton less then what is worth?

I think it depends on the area,  where I live they sell houses that need alot of work anywhere from 40-99 thusand $$

Talk to an agent. We put a little money into the right renovations and made much more selling our old house. It doesn’t have to be super costly. Those “we buy ugly houses” people will rip her off. An experienced real estate agent will have good advice

Honestly it’s a decent chance she’ll lose money unless it’s in the same condition as when she bought it or the housing market in her area has gone up (also depends how much she owes on her mortgage). She should do some research and see what prices comparable houses are selling for in her area and then take into account the condition of hers versus theirs. Usually a couple thousand dollars is knocked off for each thing that needs to be done depending on the item.
