why are we like this

y’all we can not agree on a name for our son, i know we have so much time before he’s born but i at least want to have a small list and this happens every time

like tbh at this point i’m ready to just put some names in a hat and pick bc every name i suggest he hates and vise versa
the only thing we agree on is the middle name

How about you each come up with your own lists separately and then see if you have any of the same names on your list? That way instead of feeling like the other is always saying “no” you can see which names you both like independently. Then you can choose from that list of the same or similar names.

We were the same so we kind of made a game out of it. Here’s what we did:
1) You each make a list of ten names. (This was easy for me, he had to go through the entire nameberry site letter by letter to get his list)
2) swap lists and you each get to cross out 5 of the other person’s names.
3) combine the lists for a joint list of 10.
4) you each rank the names 1-10 (one being favorite, 10 being least favorite).
5) Add the scores for each name. (Example. My SO’s favorite was Juliet so it got a 1 from him, it was 4th on my list so it got a 4 from me. 1+4=5 so it’s final score was 5.)
6) The name with the lowest score is your baby name! (Or take the top two and make a final decision on which to use when baby is born)

y’all we did do the list thing but we got COMPLETELY DIFFERENT names, nothing was even close to the same, pls don’t make me choose a name off a list where the top three were lancelot (refuses to let him go by the nickname lance because “it’s sounds gay”), mcgregor (yes like the ufc fighter, refuses to compromise with greg), and kyle (i dont wanna carry my son for 9 months just name him kyle)

Ugh I’m dreading this part.  My SO gave me ONE name last time that I said no to and then said no to every name I suggested (well over 100).  It feels so impossible

We didn't find out gender with our last baby and picking a name was hard! We went back and forth the entire pregnancy with boy and girls names. Boy names have always been easier for us. The Thursday before I gave birth I sent a name to my husband. He thought it was ok. And I made a joke saying watch the baby will be a girl and we're just going to see her and be like none of these fit and we will call her Athena! And texted back saying he absolutely loved the name and 3 days later we had our baby and she was indeed a girl! And it was awesome because our families knew about the other names we were considering but didn't know about Athena so when we texted them all they got a double surprise! Anyways good luck! You've got time and you will get there 💙

I’m in the exact same boat as you, but I am 32 weeks along and we still haven’t found one we both love. We have each made separate lists, several times now, and neither of us like any off the other persons list and it’s stressing me out. With our first daughter, I wrote down 3 names I liked when I was like 12 weeks along, and one of them he loved and so we went with that and never looked back. Now we’re having another daughter and it’s getting so frustrating not being set with her name! And it’s similar to what ur experiencing-I listed some off yesterday, he actually liked 1, then said “Oh so and so named their kid that so nevermind”...ok, well their kid is 9 and we see them once a year on Halloween so apparently that rules it out🤦‍♀️
