Switch doctors! Before I got pregnant I was on anti depressants and anxiety meds and ADHD meds. I was able to stop but I didn't know what I could take while pregnant cause I couldn't find a doc til I was 19 weeks. My doc knows my medical history and at each visit they ask how I'm managing things. I can't take the ADHD meds at the moment but she said that if my depression or anxiety get to an unmanageable point there are meds available to take that outweigh any negative outcome to baby.  She said my mental health well being is just as important as the baby's health!

Depression shouldn't be brushed aside. Your hormones are raging and ive seen people that don't normally have it develop it during pregnancy and are scared to ask for help. To me it sounds like your doctor has personal thoughts about depression and probably thinks you can get over it cause it's not real. That to me right there scares me for you!  Nobody gets to down play your thoughts and how you feel, there is no switch.  The only reason I don't take any meds is cause for some reason my pregnancy seemed to align my hormones and I feel ok but I'm grateful if I do need them they are available to me.

We are suppose to do what needs to be done to have a healthy, happy pregnancy... If your doctor brushes this aside like it's no big deal, imagine if you had other concerns that could harm you or baby and this doc brushes you aside cause you don't have a medical license. Stay strong and switch doctors!

why would that be selfish? antidepressants don't harm the baby, and while she/he is very important, the mother is also just as important. you have to take care of yourself in all manners.

I've been on them for both pregnancies. Happy mommy- happy baby. As long as you and your dr work together to make sure your doing well, you should do what's best for you. Always.

Do what you need to do to take care of yourself, your baby needs a happy, sane mumma when they finally arrive! Your doctor won't prescribe you anything that would harm your little one, so try not to panic (I know, it's hard!) 
Taking mood stabilisers or antidepressants isn't anything to be ashamed of, or to feel guilty about. There is no shame in seeking the help you need to get through this. 💜

I was on an antidepressant called Cymbalta and my doc took me off of it because she said there isn't any studies on it saying whether its safe or not safe during pregnancy .. Its been really hard but I'm trying to stay strong and as long as I have a healthy baby that's all that matters to me . I'll probably get back on it after the baby is born because I'm a mess without it .
