Feeling ashamed and confused

So I’ve been masturbating for a couple months now and I’m Catholic so I’ve always felt like masturbating is wrong. Although I’ve asked this app multiple times if it’s wrong or not and they always say that it’s completely normal and healthy so I asked one of the priests at my church and he said that masturbating is “a misuse of the gift that God gave you to express love” and now I’m confused. Help??
