My Sweet Girl

Ruthie • Mama to one beautiful girl 💕

I had my baby girl March 3rd at 7:03pm. Weighing 7lbs 7oz, 20in long. And while my labor was rough, she was worth every single second.

I was induced Monday night and was in labor for 49 hours. After 18 hours on Pitocin and only dilating 1cm I decided to get an epidural because I was having intense back labor and just wanted some rest. When I woke up the following morning I was 3cm, which was slow progress, but still some. They broke my around 8:45am on Wednesday. After that I started to slowly make progress. I was 6cm around 3:30pm and my epidural stopped working, I ended up getting a second epidural around 5pm when I was 8cm. Finally hit 10cm and started pushing around 5:45pm. After a little over an hour of pushing baby’s heart rate started decelerating and my doctor called in a team in case they needed to vacuum her out. But there wasn’t time, baby’s heart rate dropped into the 40’s and my doctor had to perform an episiotomy and she came on the next push. She was sunny side up and had the cord wrapped around her neck twice, but she came out perfect, but I started hemorrhaging. It took about an hour, but my doctor got me stable. The next day I ended up getting a spinal headache from my epidural and had to get a blood patch done.

It definitely wasn’t the birth I imagined having, but I now have this perfect little girl. I’d do it all over again for her.
