Elective c-section?

Hi moms.. going to have my first baby in may.. the constant fear of having a Vaginal birth and pushing a child out send jitters down my spine. After a lot of discussion and thinking with my husband & Doc , I am planning to have an elective c-section. No matter how much I talk to people/read I am not being able to brace myself up for a Vaginal birth.
Anyway, my husband is a constant support and he said I should go with whatever I am comfortable in. Not experiencing labour does not make me less of a mother.
For all you beautiful momma's out there please let me know your experience of an elective c-section. How was the process and recovery??

U said your having your first? Then a VBAC doesn’t apply to u so not sure why ur worried about it 🤔

I had a scheduled csection and i regret the not having the choice of being able to labor because too many people believe “once a csection always a csection” so i have had a hard time finding a provider that supports a vbac. My recovery wasnt as bad as it could have been but i was recovering for 3-4 weeks before i could feel somewhat like myself physically. If you plan on having more children id still consider having a vaginal birth first. The chances of complications with a csection and a repeat are so much higher than having a vaginal birth

For me, even without any complications, my recovery after csection was still long and hard.

I didn’t have an elective c section I had an emergency one but the recovery is rough! Beyond just the initial few weeks of pain and barely being able to really care for yourself there’s a lot of recovery that takes place after those initial 6 weeks! 
There are lots of precautions and extra things that come up in future pregnancies too once you have a c section. I’d say go for an epidural and see if you can do it. I was totally freaked out by the idea of birth and having a vaginal birth with my first too but now knowing what a c section recovery is like I wouldn’t voluntarily do it again!

I had elected a C-section, I had a great experience. I casually got checked in that AM,
We had a music playlist in the OR, no issues with the spinal, was moving around OK the next day. Stayed on top of my pain meds and never had real pain, just sore. Going for my second one, and joke about it being a vacation from our toddler because it was a nice room, good food any time of day and an easier experience than I thought

I didn’t really “choose” to have a C section, but like you I was terrified of vaginal birth so I was relieved when they told me I’d be having one. My daughter was breech and I went into labor at 37 weeks. The worst part was the spinal, but even that was over quickly. The surgery was very fast. You can feel everything, but it’s just pressure and not pain. In my experience if you stay on top of pain meds, it is very manageable. I was up walking and using the bathroom within 24 hours of surgery. You will need help for the first couple of weeks because your core muscles are useless and you aren’t even allowed to drive. I’m a little more nervous this time around because I have a toddler to deal with as well and I won’t be allowed to lift her.

My hospital does not allow elective c-sections. I had my first (2 years ago) at 19 years old, all natural, no pain medication. I was up within an hour. Of course, it is different every pregnancy, and every person. But I definitely would not opt to have a c-section over vaginal birth if there isn’t anything medically necessary in doing so. 🤷🏼‍♀️

First, just want to clarify for you that a vbac stands for vaginal birth after csection; so it’s basically not possible as a ftm, but assume you thought the v stood for vaginal and stories mentioning vbac were about that experience..
But to your point, I get being uncertain of natural labor and of course there’s always the possibility that your plan for a natural birth goes into an emergency c section through not fault of yours, which is even more scary.  A planned c section takes that part away, but it does come with its own difficulties and generally a longer recovery.
It really is a personal choice, I know I’m going to end up being induced by 37 weeks due to medical concerns so I’m also considering if I would rather plan for a c section. Definitely read up on the medical advice on pros/cons for each and ask your doctor as many questions as you’d like! You can certainly read experiences from others but I will say I’ve seen both horror stories and breezy births in both types- it’s a complete toss up which you will have..

Key to recovery my first go around was getting up and moving around as soon as possible. Don’t over do it tho, just little steps here and there. I plan on getting one of these also this go around just because I’m a lot older, have back issues and I have a hiatal hernia so getting up isn’t easy now and I know it won’t be any easier after

I’m coming up on my third. They’re not so bad. The first couple of days are tough. It’s hard to get around. But by the time I leave the hospital, I’m taking walks through the neighborhood. Honestly I feel almost back to normal by day 4 as long as I remember to take my meds.
