FTM - My baby girl is finally here! 7lbs 3oz

Jade

I just wanted to share my labor & delivery story. My baby girl was due 3/3 and made her appearance 3/10!

I had to get induced, so my doctor scheduled me to go to L&D to get misoprostol (pill) the night before my induction to soften my cervix.

I went in the next morning to start my induction. They gave another dose of misoprostol, and they also put in a foley balloon. I started the pill to soften my cervix around 10:30am and the balloon was implanted around 2pm. They gave me a higher dose around 3pm, and I was having contractions by then that I could barely tolerate. I was trying to wait as long as possible before getting the epidural. Fast forward, the balloon emerged from my uterus around 6pm along with my mucus plug. By then, contractions were going strong by themselves. They had to give me a shot to stop my contractions because the baby’s heart rate was too high. The contractions stopped for maybe a couple mins but were going on by themselves so there was no need for pitocin. My water broke on it’s own around 11:59pm and then the contractions HIT AND ALMOST KILLED ME 😳😂... I begged for an epidural and got one 40 mins later. After that I slept until they checked me again around 4:30am. When my midwife came to check me she saw the baby’s head and said it was time to PUSH 🎊. 18 mins after I started pushing my sweet baby girl popped right out!

I’m tired but I feel truly blessed to not have needed pitocin and proud of handling such harsh contractions up to 6cm with no pain meds 👏🏾
