Should I take her to the doctor?

Question

My baby got diagnosed with eczema a couple weeks ago during a nasty flare up, so I’m still pretty new to it. Since then I’ve been using creams several times a day to manage it, but today she got a super bad rash that just seems different. She does have a food allergy and her allergist said we could discover new allergies. Do you think this is an allergic reaction or an eczema flare up? The rash is slightly raised, blotchy, and hot to the touch on the red areas.

If she already has a food allergy, I would definitely consider another allergy to be the most likely reason for her symptoms. If you have one allergy, it's really common to have other allergies as well, altho it is of course possible to have one allergy only. For example babies and toddlers with cow's milk allergy are really often allergic to eggs and soy as well. I would definitely check her diet (if you're breastfeeding, also yours) and start a food and symptom journal if it becomes difficult to find out what's causing the skin conditions. 😊
I have a multi-allergic toddler and from what I've experienced and heard from parents in the same situation, allergy symptoms on skin are way too often misdiagnosed as atopic skin type or eczema. Especially if the igE blood labs don't show any antibodies for certain foods. So many allergies cannot be proven with blood labs, and yet the symptoms and the allergies are as real and no lotion can help in a long term if it is the food causing the symptoms.

Maybe keep a good journal and track that with her eczema flares. That might help you figure out the pattern. Soak her in the bath for 15-20 minutes each night. When you get her out of the tub dab her skin dry and immediately apply ointment like eucerin or aquaphor. Trap the moisture in! We saw a pediatric allergy specialist with my daughter and this is what he recommended. He is very well known and highly respected in his field with about 50 years of experience. We had been fighting my daughters eczema for months and within a few days of doing this it cleared up!

If you don’t have a prescription steroid cream. While hydration is super important for eczema sometimes you need something stronger for these bad flare ups. 
We’ve had our son allergy tested out the wazoo and haven’t found a real allergy. I’m sure there is an intolerance somewhere because he has lots of these kind of flare ups too. 
We did recently discover he can’t use antibacterial soaps. He had a horrible flare up at daycare when we started potty training so we now have to bring in his own soap. 
Highly recommend cerave cream and cetaphil cream (not the lotions! Must say cream).

Dove derma care bath wash and lotion works wonders for my boy. He gets some pretty rough patches and it works pretty much instantly! He will itch until it bleeds. dove is the only one I've found that works. It's pretty pricey but it definitely does the job! Good luck momma I hope you figure out a solution for you baby girl!

If you have an online portal, send a photo to her doctor to see. But this almost looks like a food allergy (I had the same when I was younger); and mine looked exactly like this - raised, itchy and hot to the touch.

My daughter suffers horribly from eczema :( and she scratches is so bad it bleeds hers goes everywhere on her. We discovered hers is strawberries which irritates. When hers is flared up I’ll cover her skin in a brand called QV which is in Australia and was prescribed a steroid ointment to use for 5 days 2 times a day then stop after that which it helps it go away really quickly I would only use it for 3 days max on her.
