Husband spanked out daughter....

I grew up getting spaked by my mom and dad and so did my husband. We both grew up to with much respect for our elders. We have used a combination of Time outs as well as spakings for our daughter. However this weekend I feel my husband spanked her way too hard.. She is 4 so when I spank her it's honestly hardly anything.. But she has bruises on each of side of her bottom. This has never happened before and I confronted him about it and he just said he really didn't spank her that hard she just bruises easily.. Which is true however I have never spanked her that hard and would never.. I just don't know what to do.. Opinions..?
