Anyone have a cat and been cleaning the litter box yourself? My husband got me an early Christmas present and it's a kitten.

I have been cleaning out the litter tray the whole pregnancy - I just use gloves and do a very thorough hand wash afterward. I was initially worried about it but my OB said with those few precautions it would be totally fine

We have two cats. My husband has been doing the cleaning mostly but I would worry to much about it. If the kitten is strictly indoors your chances or getting toxoplasmosis is very very low. The cat can only get it if it eats a wild animal that is infected (rodent). To be safe, where gloves and wash your hands after scooping the litter box.

My husband cleans it. Maybe since your husband got it for you, he can clean it while your pregnant? Or just clean your hands after.

I have a kitten. I change her litter box often and I wear gloves and wash my hands really well. Should be just fine! Congrats on your new fur baby!

I have 2 cats but I don't clean the liter box. If you must clean it, use gloves and wash your hands afterwards. Also try to get dust free liter.

You're fine to do it as long as you wash your hands after. If you want to feel extra safe you can wear a mask and gloves but you aren't at risk unless you get the poop in your mouth and if the cat is playing around with mice or other outdoor creatures. My last pregnancy my husband was out of town a few times so I would clean the box right before my shower so I could be thorough.

I clean mine. My cat is an indoor cat so it isn't a big deal.

We have two which means we have two litter boxes. The fiancé cleans them both. He would do it even if I wasn't. I think it's gross. Haha
