Initial thoughts about the names Nellie and Bella?

Me and hubby like these names but with Nellie I do either think of Nelly the rapper or nellie the elephant and with Bella I think of twilight 🙄. I don’t know if it’s just me? Should we still go for either name? Thanks 🙏🏻

I had such a hard time choosing a girls name  every name reminded of someone I use to know, a famous person. I'd still use the name Nellie n bella, their generation wont think about either of those ppl

With Nellie I think about someone from  like the 1900s. No specific person. Just a vintage name that’d be cute on a modern baby.
With Bella I think of an endless strive to be more beautiful and all of the societal pressures that create insecurities and make many women spend so much time, money, and stress trying to look a certain way. It’s such a light frilly name but my impression of it is super heavy with the weight of how much pressure lots of people feel about their appearance. I know there’s a lot of other names that also mean beautiful, but this one so obviously announces that meaning, that it feels right there on the surface. So... those are my initial thoughts, since you asked.

Nell was on our short list. To me, it’s beautiful and super chic. Reminds me of the NY socialite :) And Nellie is an adorable nickname.

I would say Bella only because I’ve never watched twilight lol... My friend had a baby two ago and named her Bella.
