i get pad thai fairly often from a certain restaurant and this time it taste noticeably fishy. should i get a refund? it was $11. it’s not usually fishy. (also does that mean it’s spoiled?)

Lol pad Thai definitely has fish sauce in it. Depending on where you get it or who cooks it you will taste it more than others. I would definitely not complain about a common ingredient used in most Thai dishes. I am Thai.

I would call and let them know it wasn’t to the same quality as usual, ask if they changed the recipe, etc. Hopefully, they’ll offer you a replacement/refund, without you having to ask 😊

I would just let them know but not request a refund unless it was that bad. I try really hard to not be that person. Once I didn't realize there was bread crumbs on my Mac and cheese at Chicago grill, I HATE bread crumbs on mine. I felt like an asshole when I requested a new Mac, I told them no need to Comp it because it was my fault for not reading the menu all the way. They comped it. Idk why! But it was really nice! As a former server, i would do anything i could for my guests. I would comp anything they didn't like or want, just cause I wanted them to have a good experience(jw marriott). Sometimes they would tip the difference or 20% on the new tab but it never bothered me.

Fish should not smell fishy, it’s an indication that it could be spoiled. I would not eat it ... I got a lo mein once and it smelled like a bait shop, the shrimp were spoiled... I eat fish or seafood 3-4 times a week. It also should not have strong fishy taste with the exception of a few types of fish.

Did you eat it or did you take it back? If you ate it, no. If you took it back because it tasted off, yes. They may have just remade is as opposed to refunding, though.
