iud strings? fingering ?

Hi I got my iud a week ago exactly and today I checked up there for the first time and was able to find my strings almost immediately and that freaked me out ! Will my boyfriend ever be able to finger me without feeling them? that's so scary ! I'm sorry for being dramatic and also should I ask my doctor to cut them shorter on my two week check up? someone please help! will sex hurt after the iud ???

I've had my iud for almost a year now and my boyfriend does feel my strings sometimes (only when fingering) and only when he's trying to feel them. It doesn't hurt me or him during sex. Just don't think about it. It's not a big deal.

The IUD strings will curl after a while but it does make some more "aggressive" positions very uncomfortable if your man is well endowed. We can no longer do almost all of my favorite positions. 😞

They curl up and get softer after a while. My boyfriend can feel them only when he's "looking" for them. It doesn't hurt him or me during sex, and he can't seem to feel them while fingering me. (It's also only been a month since I got my IUD). Hope this helps

I've had my IUD for about 2 years now, and my strings were quite long in the beginning. They've now "shrunk" I'm not sure how to explain what they've done lol. But sex shouldn't hurt you or your partner with it. My boyfriend has been poked down there from the strings a few times, but we just re-adjust and keep going! But of course if you think they should be shorter, ask them to just trim a bit off! But they will shrink ☺️

I have had my copper IUD for a year and a half now. My partner of 3 years never notices, while fingering or having sex ( with or without a condom) we've talked about it and he doesn't feel any differences, so do not worry! You can ask your doctor to cut them shorter as it makes no difference when it comes to getting it removed. I enjoy sex very much, but very rarely my coil gets knocked. Although any discomfort goes away as soon you change positions away from how it's getting knocked. It's nothing to worry about! I hope I helped

My husband feels them every once in a while, but it doesn't bother us. They will curl with time. I would wait til your 6 month checkup to get them trimmed. And it will get knocked once in a while, but it's nothing to worry about.

The strings curl and get softer over time. The issue with cutting strings too short is that then they stick out straight like whiskers and have no room to curl, exacerbating the problem of "feeling them" by a partner. Also cutting too short can make it more difficult to remove the IUD when the time comes, as the nurse or doc has to grasp the strings with a tenaculum and too short is hard to grasp.

I have the mirena and my boyfriend could feel it when I first got it in. He said it hurt a little. My dr said to just do missionary for awhile and then after the mucous (ew) forms around he won't feel anymore 
After about a month he stopped feeling it.
