Would you date a past cheater?

A guy I've only just started speaking to has said he's cheated in previous relationships, said it was in part due to his upbringing and how adults in his life objectified women or something like that. And as a result he's lied and cheated in relationships he's had before. He's said he's changed and understands his past mistakes and learned from them. What are your thoughts? Could you date a reformed cheater? Or does a leopard never change its spots?

If he a serial cheater meaning he has cheated in all or most past relationships, I would be very skeptical that he has changed. You don't just wake up one day and decide that you won't cheat anymore. He needs to do some serious work on himself. If he is not showing you he is then I probably wouldn't waste my time.

I think it’s a good sign that he was upfront about it. He may have an understanding now that he didn’t possess when he was younger. Many of us do harmful things to ourselves and others when we’re young, ignorant and angry. Perhaps he grew up 🤷🏻‍♀️

I think people can change. My husband cheated on his ex (of course he told me about it) and I’ve cheated in the pasted as well. But I know I would never cheat on my husband. I think people cheat for multiple reasons but in the right relationship, change can happen

I mean anybody can change if they really want to and do the work to do so. But also I feel like you should take some time to work on your insecurities and trust issues so you don’t bring them into the new relationship with always having the thought in the back of your head of it happening to you then of him doing it in the past to other women. You know? I mean regardless of who you’re with next you should always do your best to heal from the past so you don’t bring it into the next relationship and that goes for all of us!
