Do you think reality TV fails to help women? (Example in description)

So its obviously no secret that reality TV is very problematic. 
I've been watching 90 day fiance lately and I'm completely baffled at what happened with Olga and Steven in season 6. There were many and I mean MANY concerning behaviors coming from Steven. It hurt watching it seeing this poor young woman have to endure this abuse. 
For some context, Olga got pregnant by Steven. He went to Russia to be there for the birth of their child, she went through 9 months of being pregnant alone. As soon as this woman gave birth he was demanding things from her, she wasn't packing fast enough in the hospital and he got impatient with her saying that she needs to hurry and that the baby can wait to eat (she was trying to breastfeed the baby). Oh and she went through a C section. 
When they got to the apartment he was demanding attention from her, he would yell at her over the smallest things and blame her for the problems in their relationship.
He was planning to take the baby to America without her because he didn't start her K-1 visa.
It bothered me that all of this happened on camera, one can only imagine what he'd do off camera. TLC failed this poor girl by not stepping in, thank God they are separated now but I couldn't even imagine what he would've done to her.
Do you think reality TV fails to help women? I enjoy watching these shows but watching how Steven acted with Olga just left a really bad taste in my mouth.

I think producers should step in when shit seems unsafe. Like stirring the pot on some shows is not ok and then completely abandoning someone who needs help on another is not ok.
I’d speak up if it were me and I’d risk being fired because some whit people don’t need to go through for some damn ratings.

They should absolutely step in when 'reality' relationships are abusive.  And though the victims of domestic abuse are disproportionately women, they also don't step in for men.  I don't watch much reality TV but I saw an episode years ago of some teen pregnancy show and the girlfriend was physically abusing her boyfriend on camera and they just filmed it.

I think reality TV is mostly scripted or dramatized. I doubt anything seriously unsafe actually happens out side of being scripted.

I always sit and wonder how the camera men and shit can just stand their doing nothing. I have way too many feeling that I would be jumping in and telling him to shut his bitch ass mouth . Watching stuff like that on tv hurts my soul , I couldn’t imagine seeing in happen in front of me and not doing or saying anything !!!!!

I think most reality TV cameras crews are expected to not intervene unless there is someone's safety is at risk. TLC is really bad though. I remember this one woman from extreme cheap skates later came forward and said her episode was grossly exaggerated and they had her stage a dinner that she dumpster dived for, that she fed to her "friends". She said she's not nearly that extreme in real life, she's just very froogle. She got a lot of hate and back lash and I felt really bad for her. My point is, TLC especially doesn't care about any of the ppl they film. They only care about ratings. Whatever happens to those ppl after is not much of their concern. On 90 day fiance, on the Nicole and Azan story, Nicole actually put her hands on Azan and shoved/ pulled him like a rag doll and no one stopped her. I know there's been more similar situations but that one stands out to me the most right now.

I bet a lot of it was fabricated drama. You'd probably be surprised at how many shows have drama added in just to get views.

Of course. Reality television thrives off of events like that, as well as other intense moments. TLC in particular is a very nasty network who had no problem keeping the Duggars on air, so really what does that tell you? Reality television does one thing: exploit. If the camera person or producer intervened, they’d lose their job. TLC airs a ton of problematic crap. I recommend not supporting the network. I also recommend just not watching reality television because that’s exactly the type of content they will try to focus on.

90 Day Fiancé in general is problematic. It’s mostly an older American pursuing a young foreigner who is poor or disadvantaged. Big Ed and Rose springs to mind. She was sleeping on a dirt floor in the Philippines and she meets Ed who is old enough to be her father and she sees it as her only escape. He obviously takes advantage of that. Or how about Angela and Michael? Angela, a grandmother from rural America, pursuing a 20 year old something Nigerian man. It’s just all horrible.

Producers will step in if they morally can’t stand by and watch someone hurt themselves or someone else, but anything else they can’t really get involved.
I know even in “Intervention” they have to just watch and film some serious heavy stuff unless someone is actively dying. 
If someone is being emotionally abused I assume they ask them how they are doing during personal interviews and stuff.
I bet there is plenty of stuff that happens that doesn’t make it to air.
