Long lost best friend

I reconnected with my elementary school best friend today! It was a little awkward cause both of us have always been socially awkward, but it got a little better after me saying "is it just me or is this a little awkward?". I also pointed out that she was being short and she said "I'm just not a talkative person". Whaaaaat? Girl no you couldn't have changed that much. We did see each 6 years ago and it wasn't weird at all, but neither of tried very hard to stay in touch. We were just texting cause we live states apart, but I made sure to tell her this time I really wanted to stay in touch because it would be great if we could talk and it not be awkward/forced small talk.

Her and I went through a lot of stuff together when we were little kids and we were always there for each other so if I could get that best friend back I'd be so happy
