Should I be concerned? Serious question

My boyfriend told me that when he was little he would have so many people give him kisses and he ended up getting a cold sore on his lip because of it. He assumed it was herpes and of course it was never transmitted by anything sexual. He hasn’t gotten a cold sore in years and even got tested and he does not have herpes at all!!! I am just overthinking that he may still have it? He showed me two test results and they were negative. Should I be okay?
