Trouble Inserting Cup

Question

So I just got my first mensural cup (the saalt cup in small) and I did everything people said, relax and aim for the tailbone, but I couldn’t push it in and it started to hurt. I even got a mirror to make sure it was going on the right place and I couldn’t get it in. Is this normal? I’m 16 and never had sex or used a tampon so could it just be my hymen?

Go to Saalt’s IG, they have so many good tips. I use the Saalt small also. When I put it in, I get it wet, squat all the way down, fold it into a “c” shape and insert. You may want to insert your finger first so really know where you are going with the cup. Your muscles need to be completely relaxed. Even a little tension can make it hard to insert the cup.

Try a tampon first, if you have success with that then try a cup, don’t go straight for a cup of you have no experience with insertion or removal. Are you folding the cup into a tucked in c shape? You can also try some lube if needed but usually period blood will work for that. Don’t practice insertion when not on your period unless using lube.
