Why do people choose c-sections?

Like elective c-sections. I thought they were only done if necessary? Is it easier than natural birth?

Easier in that you don’t have to go through labor, harder in that you have to recover from a major surgery while caring for a new born. The only people I know who had elective c sections did so because they had had emergency c sections previously.

Why do we have the right to question how a gorgeous Mumma chooses to birth. Her body - her decision. This shouldn’t even be a discussion - unless you are seeking advice because you are unsure yourself. 
Such a shame we have to mummy-shame women who choose to have csections.

I’m opting for another c section because I don’t want my uterus to rupture🤷🏼‍♀️
I also know what to expect from it, so the fear of the unknown may also be a factor for some people. 
Most OBs will not perform an elective 1st time c section. There has to be a medical reason for it the 1st time and then after that it’s a choice to try VBAC or have another c section.

I had an elective one with my first as I had medical issues and the doctor suggested it be the safest option

My first was an emergency. I was given the option of a vbac or a repeat c section. I am going to have a repeat c section because I’d rather just have it planned than try to do a vbac, something go wrong then I have to end up having another emergency c section.

It’s not “easier” and everyone along with every birth is so different that it could go great or have complication either way you chose. I was contracting but not dilating and agreed to have a C-section and it went beautifully smooth I wouldn’t change it for anything. This will be my second baby 12 years later, and I will be declining VBAC and praying this C-section goes as great as the first one did 🙏🤞

I had an elective csection with my third because I had two emergency csection before. I didn't have to have a csection with my third. I was allowed to try for one last vbac, but I didn't want to. You know why? Because my first two labours were very long 4days if active labour with my first and 2 days of horrible strong contractions with hardly any breaks in between them with the second. At the end of those two labours even if I would have gotten to a point where I could have pushed, I wouldn't have had the energy.
My first daughter was in fetal distress and I've never seen doctors act this fast. From the moment they realised to the moment she was born was around 10 minutes. My second daughter was brought because of failed induction. I was more in distress then her. But we found out during the csection that the cord was wrapped around her so many times that she couldn't engage. So that's why there was no progress. After those two experiences I had no desire to recreate it a third time.. 
An elective csection is definitely easier than and emergency csection after several days of labour. 
Not everyone has a straight forward 8-12 hours labour with a happy end. 
If/when I have another baby it will be another elective csection one hundred percent! I don't think they'd take me on as normal birth now anyway. But if they did, I'd politely decline haha.
Recovery depends on the person tbh..most women around me had natural births and most of them recovered much faster than me. But one friend of mine tore so sooo badly, she took longer to recover than me. She's now pregnant again and she's also going for a elective csection this time. And I don't blame her after her experience !!

I chose a scheduled one this time because my birth experience was extremely traumatic the first time around. I was induced with 2 different methods, labored for 36 hours, never progressed enough to push, my daughter’s heart rate kept dropping after they broke my water, and she had the cord wrapped around her neck 2x so they decided to refill my uterus with saline to get her to float out of it-didn’t work. Led to emergency c section where I felt them cutting into me because the epidural didn’t take fully. I then had such high bp that I had to be on a magnesium drip for 24 hours and could barely walk and my baby went to nicu due to low blood sugar. It was a complete disaster. This time around I want it to be calm and peaceful and not do all the labor and stuff in case anything goes wrong again. With my first section I was driving and going up and down stairs by my 4th day(1st out of hospital) because my husband was not present and I had to care for my baby by myself and the pain wasn’t that bad and I healed really nicely. For me it’s more the trauma of my first birth and not wanting to got through that again.

I had a scheduled (not elective) csectjon with my first and i will NEVER choose to have an elective csection. ACOG recommends vbac first because its safer for the mother and the risk of rupture is 1 in 206 delivers with an even smaller percent of that being catastrophic. I will risk the small chance of rupture before i take another surgery and risk having a higher chance for a hemorrhage, hysterectomy, or my own surgical complications. 
I support other birthing individuals choices to have a repeat but its definitely not for everyone.
