How do you do toys?
My son is 6 almost 7, and since he started 1st grade I’ve been doing this “bank” thing with him. He gets toys for his birthday and Christmas. If he wants a new toy any other time, he has to earn it. (Disclaimer: he has a bazillion toys, we do crafts and art together, family games, he has more than he could do. I’m not stimulation starving him 😜) He has a chart that goes to 50 and he gets a ⭐️ for good things. Each star is 1$. We started this mostly as a way to encourage him to do well in school and reinforce good behavior. I’d say he earns 25-35 ⭐️ a month. So about a toy. I’m 27 weeks pregnant and I’ve started thinking about parenting and what I might do differently. Also just wondering if I’m doing possibly harmful things in the parenting of my 6 year old. So how does everyone do toys and why. Any good parenting book recommendations?
