Is 33 weeks too early to install car seat ??

Question

Thinking about going car seat shopping over the weekend , I’ll be 33 weeks . Do you think this is too early to get it installed ? 
Just don’t want to leave it last minute especially if baby comes early

Yes its way too early. If you get into an accident before your birth youll have to buy a new car seat/base and sometimes insurance wont cover a new one depending on where the impact happens. You can always keep it in the car uninstalled in the trunk but i dont recommend putting it in until youre ready to leave the hospital

I never installed my children's car seats until they were born. Takes up too much room and it doesn't take long, so my husband would do it before we left the hospital. Especially since you're in there for a few days, there's plenty of time to get it done.

The risk with installing it early is if, god forbid, you are in an accident.  Then you will have to replace the car seat.  Personally, I would read the manual, look up certified car seat techs installation, so you feel confident you can get a safe install when the time comes.  Then I would install it closer to 36/37 weeks.

Go for it if you want to, but they’re easy and quick to install so if you wait it’s not like you won’t have time to do it later

I had my daughter at 34 weeks. We had the base installed but did not put the car seat in it until we took her home

Well if baby comes early, you may end up staying on the hospital for longer so there will be more time. If you have the baby when it’s due, you’ll still be in the hospital for a while and it takes no time to install if you know what you are doing 🤷🏻‍♀️ we never installed it before giving birth. Hubby installs it when it’s time to pick us up.
He did have to make sure he knows how to do it a few weeks before with our first and he got it checked to make sure he did it correctly then he took it out.

If you’re going with an infant car seat then it’s not too soon to install the base! I wouldn’t put the actual car seat or a convertible car seat in that early because once you’ve been in an accident they are no longer safe. God forbid you get into even a fender bender with the car seat installed and now you have to replace it before you’ve even used it.
