I have seen so many posts about a blood test. It seems to me that this blood test is drawn from the mother's vein, and it carrys info about baby such as sex, and diagnostic info?
Am I wrong?
This test must be new, I have never heard of it! I thought the only ways to get info about baby were super invasive intrauterine tests! 
Someone explain!
P.s. my first appointment is dec 9th, the day before the 13 week mark. I want to ask about the test, if I'm gonna have my blood being sucked anyway. Lmao

Fragments of Dna from normal cell breakdown on the foetal side of the placenta circulate in your blood from 10 weeks of pregnancy. They can filter your blood for the fragments of Dna and reconstruct it into chromosomes using a computer. They get rid of chromosomes matching your Dna and for some tests also your partners. What is left is the baby's. They can then see if the numbers of chromosomes is as expected (not normal in downs syndrome,Edwards etc) and as the sex chromosomes are different sizes they see if you are having a boy or girl. It doesn't give the genetic detail of the invasive amniotic, cvs so not good for all genetic diseases, only ones where the chromosome number is abnormal.

It's called a free cell Dna test. It's fairly new. I had my daughter in 2013 and it wasn't offered... By 10 weeks some of the baby's dna ends up in the mothers blood so it can be analyzed for sex chromosome disorders and for trisomy.
