Did you get the epidural? Tell me your experiences below

Im 27 weeks and its time for me to make my birth plan. Im leaning towards going natural but I wanna hear your birthing stories.

I had an epi with my first two because I was given Pitocin to speed things up as I wasn’t progressing fast enough in their eyes, Pitocin can make contractions 1000x worse.
My third baby I just had 8 weeks ago and needed to be induced so while I originally wanted to go natural for my last, I knew I’d likely be begging for an epi because of the Pitocin. The anesthesiologist placed the epi incorrectly and it only numbed my feet and calves. So I felt evvvverything and on top of it, couldn’t move my legs well to get in comfortable positions. My dr said sometimes epidurals just don’t work correctly, and I ended up having my natural labor. It was INTENSE, compared to my two previous births. I was screaming and cursing compared to literally sleeping through the pain with my other two 😂 
But I have to say I’m glad I went through it, because oh my goodness did I feel so powerful and strong and it was so worth it. I felt invincible and amazed with what my body accomplished. The pain was hard, but it goes by so fast and once baby is in your arms you forget all about it. 🧡

I had an epidural. I don’t regret it. It helped a lot. I have induced. I was in labor for 15 hours, and pushed for 3 hours. First pregnancy. I was miserable for 15 hours and the epidural helped alot

No epidural. My labor was about 12 hours from first contraction to delivery. Maybe 8 hours in I felt like my body wasn’t doing exactly what it needed to. The contractions were painful and my natural response to pain is to tense up and I wasn’t sure what to do to let go of that but I knew it wasn’t helpful for dilation. So, I explained that to the nurse and she offered me a muscle relaxer through my IV. It was exactly what I needed for my body to relax. I could still feel the contractions, painful like I said but not unbearable, however my body wasn’t tense anymore. I gave birth a few hours later. Pushing was the worst part but only because I was unprepared and the nurses were no help, they literally didn’t say a word while I was pushing. I didn’t know what to do so that part felt hard but otherwise it was a pretty uneventful/easy delivery. 
The only thing I would change would be to wait until my body was ready for pushing, it will sort of happen naturally if you let it. I felt one involuntary push and thought I was ready but I wasn’t yet. I’m due with my second in 7ish weeks and that’s the only thing I’m doing differently to plan for this delivery. Educating myself more on the pushing process and doing things to prepare my body for that.

I went in not being set on absolutely not getting one, if I needed it I would. I ended up needing it, I mommy water broke at 11 I got an epidural around 2 and then started pushing about 20 mins later had my daughter at 2:55. Quick labor but intense until I got the epidural, I’m pregnant with my second and plan on going as long as I can but will most likely get an epidural before having to push again. I don’t want to feel that lol

I got the epidural after having contractions for 18 hours. I really wanted to go naturally but I knew I wasn’t going to have the energy to push if I couldn’t get some rest. Thankfully I felt nothing when I pushed 7 hours later. The only crappy part is I have achy back pain now and I never used to.

I’m a pain wussy lol my personal opinion of myself, any abdominal pain/ back pain is too uncomfortable for me to bear and went for the epidural every time, no regrets . They shut my epidural off when pushing so it has time to let the feeling back to your legs and such , I felt it all with my third and even though the pain was really real it was over as soon as my baby was out ! Don’t feel bad if you do decide to have the epidural, you will know what’s best for you when you’re experiencing your labour . Every labour is different 😊

I did and will again this time. I was in labor for 12 hours with no progression and a bad fever that wouldn't break so they did pitocin andthe epidural at the same time. I took a 3 hour nap, woke up and pushed for an hour. It was smooth sailing after the epidural. My body needed to relax, it was a game changer. They told me I was headed for an emergency c-section if the pit/epi didn't make fast changes.

I was induced and had been in labour for almost 48 hours. The contractions became too intense and I asked for an epidural. The relief was immediate however it didn't last long and they had to increase the medication.
I ended up having an emergency C-section for various reasons. 
However, I have already decided that I want to have an epidural with my next baby if I am able to try and deliver naturally.

I didn't get an epidural with either of my kiddos. Both my kids came within 30mins of my water breaking.
