Did you tear while giving birth?

This is literally my biggest fear of labor and delivery. If you did tear then what degree tear was it and how was your healing process? And if you didn’t give tips on how to avoid it if you can.

I tore with my first but not with my second 🤷🏻‍♀️

With my first, I tore because she turned last minute and came out shoulder and elbow first. I ended up with 9 stitches inside and out and that was a painful recovery. I also had an epidural that time and had to rely on doctors to tell me when to push.
With my second, I had no epidural and could feel when to push on my own. She was also a pound smaller 🤷🏼‍♀️ I didn’t tear at all and my recovery was a breeze.
Hoping the third is more like the second 😬

1st degree internal tear, didn’t notice it tbh (lots of other stuff going on at a birth). But, you definitely want to risk tearing naturally vs episiotomy (think about how much faster and easier it is to tear fabric once you have a starter cut made, that is NOT what you want happening during labor).

I had an episodomy with my first and tore with my second and honestly the tear felt better during recovery.

I tore because she had her hand up by her face. I don't remember what degree, but the healing was t bad. It just burned when I had to pee for a while.

I had a second degree tear and I honestly didn’t feel it because of everything else I’d been feeling. (27 hours of labor natural, I was exhausted.) Healing wasn’t all that awful either. I got a little sick but that was because my baby was in the nicu and I was constantly up and down stairs. I used tucks pads. LIFE SAVER. I promise.

3rd degree tears with my first. But he was a forceps delivery, so that is quite normal for tearing. It was a rough recovery, took about 7 weeks to not be in pain. 
Second baby I had no tearing at all. A little swelling postpartum but I felt pretty much normal unless I over did it

I had a second degree tear. The pain meds they give you after birth were enough to manage it. The worst of the pain was the actual stitching as it took place, I didn’t feel myself tear.

They had to cut me, not sure if that counts as tearing but yeah. Baby just wouldn’t come out so they decided I needed to be cut to help & right after they cut me one push & baby was out 😊 The healing wasn’t too bad, pain was only there for 3-4 days. Just felt swollen for a bit as well
