Ovulation

I'm on birth control and have been for quite a few months, but I still seems that I have a white sticky substance (possibly discharge?) constantly except for the week I'm on my period. Am I ovulating or should this not be a concern. I want my birth control to work properly because I am sexual active and just want to make sure I would have nothing to worry about if I have sex.
