Why my daughter won’t be wearing masks to school anymore :(

So I guess we’re homeschooling the rest of the year/until the pandemic is over.. I’ve been trying to figure out why my daughters teeth have been getting increasingly brown the past few months despite brushing twice a day.
Then I thought okay this has been happening since school started basically..what’s changed? The only thing that’s changed is she wears a mask daily for 6 hours only taking it off to eat. So she eats and puts it right back on and I think the lack of fresh air is what’s caused it..

I feel so bad for her :( luckily they’re baby teeth so hopefully the adult ones aren’t affected🤞

Can she just brush her teeth/ mouthwash rinse after eating? Or drink a ton of water? I wear a mask all day to teach (i take it off to eat and drink) and my teeth are alright. I also drink a LOT of water

I’m confused about how wearing a mask is causing this. I breathe through my nose with my mouth closed. So mask or no mask makes no difference. With a mask on, the air I breathe out is trapped there, but my mouth is still closed. Also, with your mouth closed your saliva helps flush away bacteria. Is she a mouth breather? Is she breathing through her mouth because she’s not getting enough air through her nose? Maybe try a different mask that makes breathing easier. I double mask with a surgical and thin fabric over top and can breathe more easily than my old mask alone. It seems like something to try before changing school environments.

I second what Kels said. (I did that at school when I had braces/ a retainer.) I’ve also heard from the dentist to swish mouth with water for 30 seconds after eating anything to dilute the acids produced when we consume food. I’m sorry she’s having issues 🙁

Mask mouth is a real thing and it is effecting tons of people and children. Not to mention expecting kids to wear masks for 6-8hours a day is ridiculous.

I’d think we’d be hearing more about this if it was a common thing. My 14 yr old has to wear it on the bus and at school so that’s 7a-5p straight ten hours. My seventeen year old wears hers at school 7a-2p then again at work 3p-8p. The only issues they’ve had but finally gotten under control was the dreaded mask acne 😆 they’re both recently out of braces so frequent orthodontist appts to check retainers so we’d know if there were issues during the past year. Our city just lifted the mandatory mask mandate but most stores and restaurants are still requiring them to enter.

There is a ton of evidence showing that wearing masks all day, every day is affecting people's oral health negatively. Its just not "fashionable" at to acknowledge any ailment other than covid at the moment. 
I don't blame you for homeschooling at this point. Masks on children who are developing rapidly and can't adhere to the sterility required to apply and store the masks properly is completley stupid and short sighted.

This is the main reason I chose virtual schooling for my kids (not the teeth thing, the mask). I can’t imagine my kiddos having to wear one for 6 hours straight. I wear mine for a few hours and my nose and mouth are so unbelievably dry, it’s awful. Sorry your babe is going through this.
