No words at 18 months, anyone else experience this?

My son has no words at 18 months. Did anyone else have a child with no words at 18 months? If so did they later develop speech? Did you find out why? Any other issues such as autism? 
We are working with him constantly to help bring on his speech and I'm following all.the advice I'm finding.

My son is behind in speech at 18 months. Only consistently saying about 5 words. I had him evaluated for speech therapy and he qualified for the program. He starts therapy this month. I’d highly recommend looking into programs in your area. Early intervention is key.

Signing time and baby signing time on YouTube is free and super helpful in building communication networks in the brain. It's helped noon verbals behind verbal. My nephews used it did really pick up signing but did pick up language

All kids are different and there are so many reasons for not having a lot of language at 18 months- some kids just take a bit longer than others, some kids will have a language explosion and all of a sudden start talking a lot, some have underlying language issues, some have other things that may impact on language (autism, developmental delay, learning difficulties, etc.), some have reoccurring ear infections and some have hearing difficulties. 
MOST kids will go on to develop language skills if given the right support. However, it’s difficult to rule out other factors at 18 months so it is so important to talk with an expert (speech pathologist) about your particular child.

I do think no words at 18 months is a little concerning as I believe it’s out of normal range. I would check with your pediatrician and see if an evaluation is warranted. For hearing too. My nephew’s speech delay was related to auditory issues

I wouldn't stress so long as she seems to understand basic words like bottle, milk, etc. With both of my boys, my pediatrician always tried to make me get conxern about their speech. With my 1st I listened and had all kinds of exams and appointments and then put of nowhere his speech came in with a vengeance at about 2.5yrs. My youngest saw the doctor a few months ago (18 months old) and he tried to tell me we should get his hearing checked (just like he did with our first) since he wasn't saying too many words if any at all. I ignored him and sure enough, he is currently 20 months or so and starting to talk up a storm. So long as your kid seems to be learning/understanding language I wouldn't stress for now. If your kiddo is 2.5 or older and still not talking, then I would start looking at possible causes.

Talk to your pediatrician. Mine wanted my son to have 10 words total and consistently use 2 of them at 18 months. He wasn’t there so we were referred to speech therapy. Covid and moving states messed us up and we never got an appointment. We’ll be following up with a new ped later this month for her recommendation. He’s 23 months now and I’m losing count of his words, he had a language explosion around 21 months.

My daughter didn’t say much at 18 months or even 2 at years. We had an appointment for an evaluation for speech therapy a few months after her 2 year appointment. Literally 2 weeks from her appointment she woke up one morning and started saying all kind of words. She’s now 28 months and speaks in full sentences. My pediatrician said between 18-24 months they go through a huge speech boom

Language development isn’t just about words spoken but also their receptive language and any other forms of communication (like using sign language). 
It never hurts to get evaluated by a speech therapist but overall unless there are other language development issues probably nothing to worry about yet.

My oldest son didn't speak before he was 2,5 years old and then he went from nothing to 3-4 word sentences. 
Keep reading, singing, talking to your kid and suddenly it will come.
