Rooming Siblings?

My 5yr daughter and 3yr old son will soon be rooming together once our 3rd baby is born at the end of June. How far in advance do you think they should get accustomed to this change? I want to wait as long as possible but also don’t want them to experience too many changes at one time once the new addition is here.

I would actually do it as soon as you can.  We were told no big changes 3 months before or after baby comes.

I have the same dilemma. Baby 3 will be here in about 5 weeks and her two brothers 4.5 and 2.5 will soon share a room. My 2.5 still sleeps in his crib though and I do not want to put him into a big kid bed until I have to. So I am hoping to wait until he is 3 but that means baby girl is in our room until she is 6 months old. With both my boys, they were both sleeping in their own rooms in their crib by 8 weeks old... i am thinking to move the crib to the shared room to start adjusting him in a new room but in the same bed he is used to so baby girl can take over nursery and use a bassinet in the beginning until 2.5 year old moves to big bed. But idk moving the crib to a different room means I have to take it apart and get it back together twice. Ugh idk what to do. Good luck!

I feel like at 5 and as she starts school she may not be as comfortable changing and getting dressed in front of siblings. What about keeping the new baby in your room so the older kids can keep their rooms?

You could start now. My 4.5 yo son and 2.5 yo daughter share a room. We started doing activities together in one room and let them fall asleep together. They have their own rooms, but like the company and don't want to sleep apart.

ASAP. But wait until the 5yr old is out of school for summer. Get them used to it during summer before school starts and baby comes. My 4 & 2yr old will be moving in together in 3 weeks!
