Teacher Appreciation Week?

When -I- was a kid 25ish years ago, I honestly NEVER remembered people talking about teacher appreciation week and even being told to get a gift for every one of your teachers. Is this something new? 🤨🤔 I hear there are even lists they send out that has teacher's favorite things... like you're forced to buy something...

It’s not super new. You don’t have to get everyone something. A simple thank you note is a great gesture!

My mom always sent me to school with a card or some candy for teacher appreciation week. As a teacher myself, I’ve never expected anything from parents. No one (especially not a teacher!) is going to judge you if you don’t want to get them anything. I’ve gotten mugs or gift cards (like 5 bucks) every once in a while and I’m always surprised lol

I hated teacher appreciation week because the “room parents” would ask for such an excessive amount of money to get the gifts.  I was a single mom working two jobs and suddenly expected to shell out $50 for each of my kids’ teachers.  Not happening.  They made them a card and we got something small to go with it and they gave it at the end of the week.  There was a list of something they were supposed to bring each day though and then a big gift on Friday 🙄
