Toddler ear infection ?

My daughters have never had an ear infection so I’m not sure what to really look out for. My 16 mo old just been very whiny this week (not sure if it’s bc of the arrival of her brother) but her sleep has been terrible. First off she refuses to sleep until 2am and after about 4 hrs in she wakes up screaming and takes her about another hour to fall back asleep. She had no fever, no ear pulling l. She’s just grumpier than usual and her sleeping all jacked up. If this was an ear infection would she be crying constantly? I’m just trying to think why she suddenly acting like this

Not saying that is not an ear infection. But typically they can run fevers and definitely mess with their ears if they have one. I feel like having a new little one in the home might be throwing her off as it is a big change! 
I’m no pro though 🙂

I would say no. I’ve had my fair share of dealing with ear infections because my son got them every time he got teeth. It was very obvious. I’d say your LO is probably in the middle of a leap. Our daughter is currently. Still 16 days to go. It’s been awful. She isn’t sleeping as well. She is miserable. She cries all the time. And throws crazy ass meltdowns. It’s awful. She is getting two molars as well. So yeah I’d definitely say she probably in a leap.

Depends- my first baby ran a fever, didn’t sleep, didn’t want to nurse, and was super cranky. This baby- we had no idea she had one. She ran a fever of 100 for a day, then was fine all weekend. Never had issues with sleeping, nursing, eating. We only found out bc she was around another baby at daycare that tested positive for covid before a procedure… so we took her to get tested per her doctor and bam- really bad ear infection. We had no idea & felt so bad. Both my kids never pull at their ears. Every kid is different- but not sleeping until 2am, something is up. I personally would go get checked out.

It could be an ear infection. My daughter just had a double ear infection. No fever, no ear pulling. I suspected something was uk when she would take forever to go down for sleep and wake up, sit up and scream. She had an ear infection a few months ago and same thing. No fever, no ear pulling, just horrible sleep.

My son has never had an ear infection, although when we brought his little sister home he was super difficult to get down to sleep and would just scream.  Could just be reacting to the change
