Marriage counseling?

My husband of almost 8 years had an affair. He desperately wants me to reconsider ending our marriage. We have kids and he wants to do counseling etc. Is it selfish of me to refuse to try the marriage counseling or anything?

Not selfish at all!!!!! You KNOW YOUR WORTH and know that a man who truly loved you, respected you, and honored your marriage would have NEVERA CHEATED! So not selfish at ALL to say no, he fucked up and can't come back from that!!! You have standards and you do not need to concede on those standards because now he "is sorry". Was he sorry all those times he was balls deep in another woman? NO! Was he honoring your marriage by sneaking aroubd behind your back with another woman? NO! Was he respecting you by entertaining another women knowing you're at home alone? NO! So fuck that noise. I'd never feel bad for knowing your own worth and demanding better from a marriage. I personally could never take a man back who chose to cheat. Because it's just that, a CHOICE. He CHOSE to screw someone else regardless of the vows he made.

The vows you made were based on the premises that neither of you would ever cheat. If that were to happen, those vows are not valid any longer. You owe him absolutely nothing. If you don’t feel like making it work, I respect you for having that much respect for yourself. I’m jealous of any woman who can walk away when they’re not being treated the way they should be. It’s not selfish. It was actually selfish of him to cheat (in my humble opinion), and now he wants you to make concessions for his selfishness. He broke his vows, not you, so if you decided you want to end the marriage in response to his cheating, that’s your decision. 💕

It is 100% up to you. What was selfish was him stepping out of your marriage for ANY reason and then putting your arrangement ending on you. He did this and now he has to take his consequences, and if that for you is divorce tell him to pack a bag and get the hell out.
