Rape and mandatory STI reporting...
Sooo, I lost my virginity to a guy friend of mine. Not ever in a relationship but have been friends for years, we still hang out sometimes. I slept with him once 3 years ago and never again. Since then, My now ex boyfriend raped me a year ago. We have obviously broken up, it was an abusive relationship. It was dangerous, I had to call the police on him, get a restraining order, changed my phone number. He basically tried stalking me for a while. He’s not someone I ever want to talk to again, I don’t mentally think I could handle it honestly.
So my problem is, I’ve been having some STI symptoms, I have not been sexually active. From what I’ve read online, a few different infections can be dormant and show symptoms even years later. I want to get tested just to be sure. What I’m worried about it being told I have an STI, (possibly from my friend who I lost my virginity too) and then being forced to contact my abusive ex about it.
I don’t know what the rules are, but I’ve read online that if you are diagnosed with an STI/STD you are REQUIRED to contact previous partners. I’m not trying to hurt anyone obviously even if he is an awful human, but I honestly don’t think I can handle contacting my abusive ex, and I don’t think it would be safe to do that.
Maybe I’m thinking toooo hard into this???? I’m not really sure why to do. Can anyone offer any suggestions?
