Finally had my baby AND my VBAC
We

would LOVE to announce the birth of Aurora Jane! She was born at 7:24pm last night (May 24th, 2021) via VBAC!!!!!!
Birth stats: 7lbs 10 oz, 19.5” long
My water broke at 3:30a yesterday morning and I was able to labor at home for 2.5 hours until Robbie made me go to the hospital because my contractions were 30-40seconds long and only 2-3 minutes apart. Upon getting to the hospital I was admitted at 3cm 70% effaced and they immediately requested an epidural to help calm my body. By 11:15sh I was at a 4 and was 80% effaced. I got checked again around 1:30ish and the decision was made to start low dose pitocin. By 6pm I was fully dilated but with a cervical lip that had to go down before it was time to push. By 6:30 they finally got the dr in the room and it was time to push. Unfortunately by 7 her heart rate started to go from the 90s-200 and they start to talk about using forceps or the vacuum (both of which were things that i made clear were not ok with me). Within minutes they wanted to pause the pushing and next thing we knew there was a vacuum, a nurse was helping the doctor pull, a nurse was pushing on my pelvis, there were 5-6 more people in the room than before, and they were yelling at me to hurry and push. She was immediately put on my stomach as soon as they were done getting her out (her shoulder had gotten stuck on the way out) and rushed her to the warmer because of her heart rate, breathing rate, and temperature. They stitched up some minor tears while i tried to watch her in the warmer and try to figure out what was going on. I finally got to hold her until a fever spiked and the uncontrollable shakes started and it wasnt safe for me to hold her. Robbie got some time with her while i waited until they figured out her fever and my fever. We finally made it to our postpartum room around 10pm!
