My heart weeps for the Tk'emlúps te Secwépemc

This story has I believe now been national news on at least several sources and I wanted to post my heartbreak and sadness over this. I live on a reservation in Alaska and hear the stories from our elders of when they were forced into government schools and tried to have their culture and traditions beaten out of them. I am young enough to not have that experience but this story is awful but probably not the only instance, just one that has been discovered. My people mourne with them now and have a remembrance ceremony planned to honor those lost. I wish more people actually knew some of our indigenous history and what some have went through and also why we fight so hard to keep our traditions even today. People need to remember and acknowledge the past so we don't repeat it in the future. We owe it to our ancestors as well as our kids.
