Do I have the right to be upset?

So I spent this past weekend with my boyfriend, I’m 22, hes 24. 
We made plans that after work, he’d come over, around 6:30, and we would spend Memorial Day with my family.
This morning he texted me that his best friend and neighbor is through a cookout at noon and he is now going and no longer coming over. 
He sees this guy all the time and only sees me once or twice a week. 
We have been together 7 months. 
I have the right to be upset, right?

Yeah, he made plans with you first and this would be a great chance to bond more and meet your family (if he hasn’t already) but he chose to go hang with someone he sees all the time. That would be annoying

Yes I’d be a little irritated as well. He agreed to come hang with you & your family that was the plan, he changed that at the last minute & that’s unfair. On top of that he’s putting that friend/neighbor whoever over you consistently which is a bit weird.

I’d be kinda upset, if he committed to you and then “found something better to do” with his friend then yeah I wouldn’t want him at my family’s party anyways he would probably be grumpy the whole time. 
I’d let him do whatever but say that there was a little bit of trust lost due to the actions that you displayed.

Sure, that would be frustrating. He should have at least made an appearance with your parents. 
I’d rather spend holidays with friends too when I was in my 20’s. 🤷🏽‍♀️ He should have ran it by your first, but he can certainly change his mind.
