Period

i’ve been on my period for 11 days now after I started this birth-control but I stopped using it because I was in so much pain that I haven’t been to work in over a week and I’m having cramps every single day I went to the doctors but they want me to start taking the birth control three times a day for the next couple of days what should I do…? because they said that’s the only possible way to stop my period. has anyone had this happen to them for?
