It depends if you are actually 6 weeks or if your dates are out slightly. Most of the time dates are out by a week or so so you may only be 5 weeks which would be early for a heartbeat.

They found a heartbeat at 6 +2 but they said it had only just started beating so yes it's possible/normal not to see anything. I'd try again in a couple of weeks.
