Will thc show up in my newborns bloodwork

I’m not going to ask you to not judge me because I deserve it and I know I messed up but I’ve been mostly breastfeeding and supplementing with formula, I took a few puffs of marijuana and then breastfed my son about 4 days ago.He had his newborn screening today and now I’m terrified of what’s to come given I live in Texas... I feel so awful and I can’t stop crying. I’ve learned my lesson it isn’t worth it. I have so much regret I’m so scared

You’re not a bad mom! We are all just doing the best we can and I’m sure your baby will be fine. I’m not sure how it works but I honestly wouldn’t worry about it. My moms friends daughter just had a baby and at 36 weeks she did HEROINE. Yeah you heard me right... they had her on subutex as soon as she was born to help with withdraw even though it was only once (that we know of). And they still sent the baby home with her. It’s so sad but it happens all the time. Don’t be so hard on yourself but probably don’t do it again just because marijuana is stored in your breast milk.

I think it will only show up if they test for it and i think that’s only if they have a reason to test for it which they shouldn’t. I smoked too after my second baby and I was never told anything about it, I was just given his normal blood test results. And I’m also in Texas

I understand your worry, but it’s more than likely they’re not testing for that, so it won’t show up. Also, you can research how long it takes to enter and leave your breast milk. I did this, I can’t remember the findings, but I figured it out and all is fine with my now 2 1/2 year old. I live in Vermont so the laws are different, but chances are you’re in the clear. Just check the research.

one of my friends smokes and breast feeds her boy (did with both boys) and nothing has ever come of it or been said, so either its not enough to detect or they don't test the baby unless there's a reason to do it
