Could I be pregnant ?? Need opinions

So the boyfriend and I haven't been actively trying for a while. We decided to just see what happens. I've had regular periods all my life. Except for the occasional one or two days early. This time it's a week early and very very light compared to my normal. Could this be spotting ?? Can I take a test I'm in slightly bleeding ?? I also get my hopes up very easily so I don't want to and then cry if a test is negative. Please let me know what you think ladies ??!!!
