PCOS?

I’ve been actively TTC for 2 years now with no luck at all.

I finally made the call to my GP (been putting it off due to COVID). I have also been putting it off as I honestly thought our bad luck was due to poor timing (I work crazy unsociable hours)

I explained everything to my GP and he wants to investigate, querying PCOS. As there are some symptoms that I’ve had since I was 11/12 years old! Back then my GP just said that things would improve with age. Flash forward, I’m 26 and the symptoms just keep getting worse!

My main symptoms are:

- Severe painful periods (24 day cycles and my period lasts for 5/6 days) to the point that the pain stops me in my tracks, it’s unbearable and affects my work

- REALLY heavy flow with lots of clots! I had to double pad and change every 2 hours if not before

- severe mood swings (I actually feel sorry for anyone who has to deal with me)

- growing facial hair along jaw line and chin

- adult acne! (WHY?! I didn’t even have this as a teenager)

- hair loss! It comes out in clumps I’m surprised I don’t have a bald patch!

-Anxiety (it fluctuates)

-already diagnosed with sleep apnea (OSA)

- already diagnosed with idiopathic intercranial hypertension (IIH)

- severe migraines

- poor memory

- brain fog

- anaemia

I had my implant removed 2 years ago and it’s been a nightmare ever since. My GP said that if I do have PCOS, the implant (which I had for 10/11 years) was masking all my symptoms as I genuinely had none while I had the implant!

What I really want to know is... what can I expect from my GP? Due to have a telephone consultation today regarding having my bloods drawn.

I just like to be prepared! Can someone give some insight as to the process and what PCOS can mean for TTC?

Any success stories!? My mum said that I will find it near impossible to conceive if I have PCOS?!
