Did you guys have a bad OBGYN?

I would like to hear some of your experiences with a “bad” OBGYN. Mine is a woman and she isn’t terrible but she is very dismissive. Nothing concerns her and she says everything is normal and especially because its my first pregnancy so she thinks first time moms are “dramatic”.

I saw an obgyn before my induction (Midwives are standard here) and she could only see my BMI - everything was a problem or could be a problem because if it. Somehow it wasn't a problem with my first when my BMI was higher. Not impressed!

My first OB was kind of “blah”
Didn’t really make me feel comfortable or offer me information about my pregnancy. Luckily I was accidentally scheduled with another doctor with the same name and she was absolutely wonderful. Always made me feel happy to be there and like my pregnancy was amazing.

Mine didn’t tell me due to where my placenta is placed I’m supposed to be on pelvic rest. She also told me when I was 6 months pregnant if I continue to gain weight that my baby will be unhealthy and big in life and that I am harming my child. We haven’t gotten along needless to say lol I’ve switched since then

My first OB dismissed anything and everything. I was a teenager and didn’t really know anything that was going on. With my second pregnancy I am trying to understand so much more than “okay you’re good to go everything is fine.” I didn’t know youre only supposed to gain a certain amount of weight, I gained 50 pounds and it wasn’t until the appointment where he told me they were going to induce me that he said I would be high risk of c-section (I was 18 and alone.) I wouldn’t have known that! I got into the hospital room for my induction (which I will never do again since learning it makes the pain so much worse) and his nurse missed the giant vein in my arm 3 times & it’s not one that disappears when you push on it, it’s bright and large. She had to drape the tube over my entire body and said not to move too much or I could rip it right out so I laid strapped to the bed for 27 hours. They refused to let me get up and walk around to try and hurry up the process. While in labor I was ready to push and kept telling the nurses that and they didn’t listen to me once the doctor got in he took all of the time in the world to have his team of nurses put another set of pants and shirt on him before helping me. After birth they decided it wasn’t important enough to inform me that my daughters collar bone had broken in the birthing process!!! I will never ever go back to that doctor or their facility and anytime someone asks if they’re good I share this wonderful story, hoping they won’t make the same mistake.

The midwife I saw for my first appointment seems like she may have been drunk. She couldn’t find my uterus on the ultrasound and I had to tell her she was too high up. She moved the wand lower and found it. She openly hit on my husband, and gave him a high five when we told her we tried for 1 month. she wore a skirt and spent the whole appt with her legs wide open.

I thought having a less intense ob would be better cause I have anxiety at the doctors. But I had a UTI that didn’t go away and they told me it was normal pregnancy symptoms and to stop stressing over it. A month later I was in the hospital with sepsis cause they didn’t listen. They also didn’t listen when I told them my epidural wasn’t working and said that pregnancy will have pain I was not going to get out of that. Even let the anesthesiologist ask me if I needed psychological help because everything was fine. Only to find out later they hadn’t gotten the little monitor on right and it was not showing every contraction or the actual intensity of it. And then they made me wait 38 hours after my water broke before they finally let me have a c section because they thought I was trying to take the easy way out. So I got to stay in the hospital for a week with my daughter after birth cause we both had infections as a result. So, long story but ultimately listen to your gut and don’t let things go like I did. Go get yourself a doctor that you feel comfortable leaving your health in their hands.

My obgyn was a female when I was 29weeks pregnant my kidney was infected she told me it was round ligament pain ended up at the hospital with an infection to the point were it was headed to my baby I was 1cm dilated and 95%effaced. Was 34weeks pregnant and started bleeding she told me it was normal by bladder filled with blood!! Was 37weeks pregnant right before Christmas was 4cm dilated my son heart rate dropped but she was going on vacation for Christmas so she refused to induce me was 40weeks got induced had my water popped was about to push baby out and she almost didn't make it to catch him.
