IUD? Please help!

Question

I have an appointment tomorrow to get on birth control. I've looked at all of my options, and so far the IUD seems to be my best option. What is your opinion on it? Do you love it or hate it? Or do you take a different birth control that you prefer? I'm 16 and looking for some guidence!

Don't get the Mirena, go for the Paragard IUD, no hormones and you will still get your cycle, which is highly important. Some think it's a godsend to not have a period. But I have done my research and it is very important for a woman to continue having a cycle. The Mirena will trick your body into thinking you are in menopause if you go a year without a period and then successfully leave you premenopausal after removal, making it harder to conceive a child. I know you are only 16, and definitely not thinking about children right now....lol. Mirena doesn't work that way for everyone, however it did for me and I wish I would have gone with the Paragard. I got the implanon. I had it for a little over 3 years and didn't have any problem. I have tiny scare one from them putting it in, and then taking it out. It did bruise a little each time, but nothing to serious. I didn't have a period the 1st year at all, then in the middle of the second year I started having a period again. I kind of enjoyed not having to worry about getting a period. ✌🏻️ Hope this helps.

Don't get the mirena or IUD as doctors and nurses do not recommend this to anyone under the age of 18 and to people that have already had kids and not planning on having more. It can cause all sorts of problems my friend got one and it got stuck to the wall of her uterus she couldn't get it out they could even wedge it out in surgery. I can't remember how they ended up getting it out but because of that she now can not have kids and is facing serious conditions because of it

I love my IUD has left me period free for the last 3 years. I have the Mirena.

Hate it. My experience was horrible and ended up having surgery to see if it was endometriosis since they said the ultrasounds were normal and iud in place. Told Dr to take out iud during surgery anyways since problems started when I got iud, after surgery she told me I didn't have endometriosis but my iud WAS embedded in my uterus and she would have never known if I didn't have that surgery because ultrasound showed it was in place. I DON'T recommend it at all
