Wake to feed?

Question

So many people suggested I not wake my 7 week old to feed. So I tried it. Last night to my shock, my daughter slept from 9pm-5am 😳 Will skipping feedings affect anything? Im a FTM and confused at all of this. My Dr appointment is next Wed, just curious what you all think.

I feed my baby when he wants fed, he's 6 weeks old and last night he slept 9-4. They will wake when they are hungry 😊

If your baby is gaining well, there is no need to wake to feed. But if you’re breastfeeding, you will want to consider pumping during that time to protect your supply, especially since baby is only 7 weeks. With an 8 hour stretch, I would pump once before going to bed and once in the middle of the night, around 2 or 3am.

You aren’t skipping a feeding. Baby’s need change and that’s ok.

It is good and normal to start to have longer stretches of sleep at night if at a healthy weight and ok with pediatrician.
